i have recently received a demand for community charge from over 20years ago 91/92. it comes directly from the council and states that i have 14days to pay or they will hand it over to a collection agency. can they do this? any help or advice of how i should reply would be great.

Hi,

As this is twenty years or over ago there is very little they can do about it.

Debt collection agencies have no real legal or lawful standing as they are acting as a third party without your permission .
